About Event
For the very first time, Ujjain is hosting the 'Great Art & Craft Exhibition', bringing together traditional artisans and weavers from across India. This grand event offers a direct platform to explore and purchase authentic, handcrafted Indian products under one roof.
He made official portraits for Indian royal families like Travancore and Mysore. He founded the 'Ravi Varma Lithographic Press' in Mumbai and became a successful businessman. He used printing technology to mass-produce his artwork for the public.
He was born on April 29, 1848, at Kilimanoor Palace in Kerala. His family was closely associated with the royal family of Travancore. From childhood, he had a passion for painting on the walls of the palaces. He learned the Tanjore style of painting from Ramaswamy Naidu, the palace's chief artist, and mastered oil painting under the Dutch artist Theodore Jensen. He gained international fame after winning an award at the Vienna Art Exhibition in 1873.
