About puja & significance

Shri Sukta Puja

Shri Sukta is a Vedic hymn dedicated to the praise of Goddess Lakshmi. It is found in the Rigveda and is recited to seek the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi for wealth, prosperity, and affluence. Shri Sukta consists of fifteen mantras, with the sixteenth mantra being a fruit-deriving verse. Additionally, eleven mantras are available as appendices. The recitation of Shri Sukta is considered highly auspicious and is specifically performed during Lakshmi Puja and for the desire of wealth and prosperity. Shri Sukta is especially recited on Fridays and during Diwali when worshipping Goddess Lakshmi.

Reciting Shri Sukta is considered auspicious to please Goddess Lakshmi. In Hinduism, Goddess Lakshmi is regarded as the deity of wealth, prosperity, joy, and grandeur. Reciting Shri Sukta bestows the blessings of Mahalakshmi. It is one of the best ways to worship Goddess Lakshmi. The recitation is performed in front of the Shri Yantra. Through the recitation of the fifteen verses of Shri Sukta, the sound body of the presiding deity Lakshmi is created with the pronunciation of syllables, word segments, and words. Shri Sukta is located at the end of the fifth mandala of the Rigveda. The number of mantras in the Sukta is fifteen, and the sixteenth mantra contains the fruit-deriving verse. Eleven additional mantras are recognized as the Lakshmi Sukta. You can also recite Shri Sukta during Diwali. Read the complete Shri Sukta here.
