Shree Somnath Mahadev Rudrabhishekam Puja
Rudrabhishekam is the most authentic and powerful Vedic ritual to attain the pleasure and blessings of Lord Shiva. "Rut" means 'sorrow' or 'sin' and "Dravayati" means 'to destroy'—meaning the one who completely destroys sorrows is Rudra (Shiva).
In this Rudrabhishekam puja held at the Somnath Jyotirlinga, learned and Vedic scholars chant the sacred verses of the 'Shukla Yajurveda' Rudrashtadhyayi (Mahannyasa) while offering various sacred substances to Lord Somnath:
-
Pure Water & Gangajal: For peace of mind and cleansing of all sins.
-
Cow Milk (Dudh): For longevity, good health, and progeny happiness.
-
Curd (Dahi): For family prosperity and positive energy.
-
Honey (Madhu): For sweetness in speech, charm, and success.
-
Ghee (Pure Deshi Ghrit): For lineage growth and physical strength.
-
Sugar / Khand (Sharkara): For the removal of sorrows and bringing sweetness to life.
-
Sacred Ash, Ittar & Chandan: For spiritual purification and mental peace.
When this Panchamrit abhishek and Bilpatra offering is performed at Somnath Dham along with the chanting of the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra, all the sins of past lives, planetary obstacles, and negative energies of the devotee are completely burnt away.
