More About Bhadrakali Shaktipeeth

In ancient times, when the divine goddess Sati sacrificed herself, parts of her body fell across the land, creating sacred sites of great spiritual power, known as Shaktipeeths. It is said that at the site now known as Savithri Shakti Peeth, Sati’s right ankle fell into a well in front of the temple. To honor this, a marble idol of her ankle has been placed near the main idol of Maa Bhadrakali, a fierce form of the goddess Shakti.

This temple, revered as Savitripeeth, Devikoop, and Kalikapeeth, enshrines Sati in her form as Savitri, with her divine consort, Lord Shiva, worshipped here as Sthanu Mahadev. The city’s ancient name, "Sthaneshwar," meaning "Place of God," evolved into Thanesar, a reminder of Lord Sthanu’s presence. The temple remains a powerful symbol of the timeless devotion and resilience of the goddess and her followers, attracting pilgrims who seek her blessings.
