More About Shree Ambika Shaktipeeth

According to mythology, Shree Ambika Shaktipeeth is one of the 51 sacred Shaktipeethas, revered in Hindu tradition as places where parts of Goddess Sati’s body fell during Lord Shiva's Tandava (cosmic dance) of grief. It is believed that it is the holy place where Devi Sati’s left toes fell down, according to the Daksha Yagna mythology and Sati self-immolation.

The legend of Sati’s sacrifice is central to Shakti worship: Sati, daughter of King Daksha, married Lord Shiva against her father’s wishes. During a grand yagna (sacrificial ceremony), Daksha insulted Shiva, leading Sati to immolate herself in grief and anger. Enraged, Shiva carried Sati’s body and began the destructive Tandava. To calm him, Lord Vishnu used his Sudarshana Chakra to dismember Sati’s body, with each place her parts fell becoming a Shaktipeeth. Sati’s left toes fell down, from that day Shree Ambika Shaktipeeth thus remains a powerful site for devotees seeking blessings and divine protection from Goddess Ambika.
