About Khatu Shyam Ji Temple

Barbarika, the grandson of Bhima, was an invincible warrior known for his exceptional archery skills and three divine arrows gifted by Lord Shiva. These arrows had the power to destroy anything he wished, and with them, Barbarika could have changed the course of the Kurukshetra War. Before the war began, he offered his services to both the Pandavas and the Kauravas, hoping to fight for the weaker side. However, Lord Krishna, disguised as a Brahmin, asked for his head as a tax for entering the battlefield. In devotion to Krishna, Barbarika willingly sacrificed his life. Pleased by his devotion, Krishna revealed his true form and blessed Barbarika, promising eternal fame. Thus, Barbarika was reborn as Khatu Shyam Ji, to be worshipped in the Kali Yuga, with his temple in Rajasthan becoming a sacred pilgrimage site.
