*Tips and Details**
**Best Time to Avoid Crowds:** The most ideal time for *Darshan* (viewing the deity) at the temple is between 6:30 AM and 8:30 AM. During this window, queues are shorter, allowing you to offer your prayers in peace. In the afternoon, the lack of shade in the queuing areas can make waiting quite hot and uncomfortable.

**Peak Days of the Week:** The temple experiences extremely heavy crowds on Saturdays, Sundays, and Sunday evenings. If possible, plan your visit for a weekday (Monday through Friday).

**Dress Code:** Although there is no strictly enforced traditional dress code, visitors are requested to dress modestly to uphold the sanctity of this religious site. Please avoid wearing half-pants, shorts, or flashy attire. It is advisable to wear slip-on slippers or sandals that are easy to remove, as footwear must be taken off frequently.

**Purchasing *Madira* (Liquor) Offerings:** The liquor (*Madira*) offered to Baba should *always* be purchased from government-authorized and licensed shops located outside the temple premises to avoid issues such as adulteration or fraud.

**Sanctum Sanctorum Rules:** Photography and videography are strictly prohibited inside the *Garbhagriha* (Sanctum Sanctorum). Furthermore, the consumption of alcohol within the entire temple complex is strictly forbidden.

**Vikrant Bhairav *Darshan*:** The Vikrant Bhairav Temple is situated just a short distance away from the Kaal Bhairav Temple. A visit to this temple is considered highly significant for those practicing *Tantric Sadhana* (spiritual discipline) or seeking remedies for *Tantric* afflictions; it is a site you should definitely include in your itinerary.

**Historical and Mythological Background**
**Prominent Among the *Ashta Bhairavas*:** According to *Tantra Shastra* and the *Shiva Purana*, Kala Bhairava is the fifth incarnation of Lord Shiva. In Ujjain, the worship of the *Ashta Bhairavas* (the Eight Bhairavas) is a prescribed tradition, wherein Kala Bhairava holds the supreme position. He is also revered as the 'Kotwal' (Guardian) or 'Commander' of the city of Ujjain. It is believed that, acting under the command of King Mahakal, it is Kala Bhairava who assumes the responsibility for the security and administration of the entire city.

**History of the Temple:** The architecture of the present-day temple reflects the distinct style of the Maratha era. It is believed that the original temple was of great antiquity; however, it underwent extensive renovation during the Maratha period under the patronage of King Mahadji Scindia of the Scindia dynasty. He commissioned the restoration of the temple to express his gratitude to the deity following his victory in battle.
