About Bhawani Shaktipeeth

The origins of the Shakti Peeths are rooted in the mythological story of Sati, the first wife of Lord Shiva. According to the legend, Sati's father, Daksha, organized a grand yajna (sacrifice) but did not invite Shiva. Upset by this insult, Sati immolated herself in the fire. When Shiva heard of this, he was devastated and carried her body, wandering in grief. As he wandered, the body parts of Sati fell at various locations, and each of these spots became a Shakti Peeth, places of great power and spiritual significance.

More About Bhawani Shaktipeeth

Bhawani Shaktipeeth, also known as Sita Kund, is a deeply sacred temple located in Bangladesh, revered as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, sites where the body parts of Sati Devi fell after her self-immolation. According to ancient Hindu mythology, Sati, the wife of Lord Shiva, sacrificed herself in the sacred fire to protest her father Daksha’s insult to her husband. Overcome with grief and rage, Shiva wandered the cosmos with her lifeless body. To relieve his torment, Lord Vishnu used his divine Sudarshan Chakra to dismember Sati’s body, and the pieces fell across the earth, creating the sacred Shakti Peethas.

At Bhawani Shaktipeeth, it is believed that a part of Sati's right arm fell, making this place an incredibly powerful site of worship. The right arm symbolizes strength, power, and protection, and here, Devi Bhawani is worshiped as the divine embodiment of these qualities. Devotees believe that by visiting this sacred site, they can connect with the goddess's immense power and receive her blessings for strength, prosperity, and spiritual growth. The temple stands as a beacon of the eternal, transformative energy of Shakti, inviting pilgrims to seek her protection and divine grace.
