More About Maa Kankaleshwari Shaktipeeth

The mythology surrounding Kankaleshwari Shaktipeeth is deeply connected to the tale of Goddess Sati. According to Hindu legend, Sati, the daughter of King Daksha, married Lord Shiva. However, during a great yajna (sacrifice) hosted by her father, Daksha insulted Shiva, leading Sati to self-immolate in protest. Shiva, in his grief, carried her charred body and wandered across the world.

As Shiva roamed, pieces of Sati's body fell to the earth, creating the 51 Shakti Peethas. Kankaleshwari is believed to be the site where Sati's Bones fell, and the temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali, who represents fierce power and destruction.
